Hey, I'm thinking about helping your friend upgrade his setup. He's currently running a 6700k with two 8GB DDR4 sticks and a GA-B150M-DS3H chipset. You're looking at the i9-9900K, ROG Maximus XI Hero Gaming, or a Ryzen 9 3900X with an X570 board—like the ASUS ROG Strix X570-F. He also has a NH-15 cooling solution. Your thoughts? Should I suggest a new PSU too, since he already has a good one but it’s not his top priority? And with a budget around 1000€, it should be manageable.
Budget sits near 1000€ yet feels quite flexible. Mostly I allocate it to gaming. Both my monitors are limited to 1080p resolution.
Consider upgrading to a more powerful GPU such as the 5700XT.
This wasn't exactly what I asked for. I understand my CPU is working perfectly, but I'm interested in selling it to a friend who knows it functions well and might be looking for something new. I plan to upgrade my GPU later, but not right away.
I selected these choices to avoid needing a system upgrade soon. (I’m not sure if I should upgrade my second monitor to a 1440/4K high refresh rate one yet.) Regarding the price difference—50 € more for MSI between X570 and B450—does it really justify the cost? I also had doubts about whether a newer GPU would fit under the NH-D15, especially since my current GPU without a backplate is quite tight.
