I'm weighing options between Windows 8.1 and 8.1 Pro versus sticking with Windows 7 Ultimate.
Keep following your interests. For now, Windows 7 seems like the best choice. Usually, upgrading the operating system should happen only every couple of releases, if at all (though I've gone through all from 98SE onward). The improvements don't justify the cost of $100 or more.
