I considered using an Intel 660P with a 500GB M.2 SSD for about $10 more, but then I noticed a 1TB Team Group SATA III SSD for $10 less. With a 2TB Seagate Barracuda as the backup drive, which option would be more suitable?

I'm looking for a place to purchase an SSD. Budget is a consideration for you?

I'm based in Kuwait, so I can only get free shipping items because shipping is expensive. My budget is about 100 USD.

Are you placing an order from the US? Are there any other platforms we should consider? Also, could you clarify which team group SSD refers to? Edited August 16, 2020 by Oswin

Avoid the 660p, it’s a low-end model. Opt for a Sabrent rocket or Corsair MP510 or something similar, or even the SX8200. You don’t need a huge SSD unless you have a 2TB secondary drive. I use a 1TB Sabrent rocket with a 2TB SATA barracuda, and I’ve actually used around 400GB on my SSD. (Just installed Rainbow 6 Siege plus a few small games and all the apps.)

It's mainly about how fast you want versus how much space you need. A 500GB SSD works fine for your games, but you should move them to another drive just in case. Even a 1TB SSD won't hold up well if you store games there too. The Intel 660p is a QLC type, so speed isn't very high. You might get about twice the speed over SATA, but it's still far from what you'd expect from modern NVMe drives.

you're getting orders from Newegg Global, which ships from the US. Actually, most local sites here charge more than everything, even a 120 GB SSD would cost around $40 USD. For websites like quadrastores.com, you can find similar options here: https://kuwait.microless.com/ and pckuwait.com. The 1 TB SSD is available from Team Group GX2.

I won’t be saving a lot of games, just a few battle royales. Fortnite will be the main focus, and 500 GB should cover it well. I’m limited to spending more for extra storage in the future.

i'm not sure if that drive is TLC, it doesn't look like it has any drives either (check your thoughts), but I think it's not worth the extra cost. If you're open to spending a bit more, here are some strong options: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/9vWBD3/...000m81000g https://pcpartpicker.com/product/VXyqqs/...34a80m28ab https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rwcRsY/...030-1tb-rb or go with a 500gb option: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/KTQG3C/...ds500g3x0c https://pcpartpicker.com/product/RykgXL/...2000m8500g https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XML48d/...bp34a80m28 https://pcpartpicker.com/product/YKZzK8/...030-500-rb

since you all talked about the drawbacks of QLCs, i’ll share a solid SSD selection list. these options focus on high-performance drives: m.2 2280 models, 500gb to 512gb capacities, using SATA III or PCIe Gen3. i’ve included options with solid speeds and reliable builds.
