Bought a Ryzen7-5800x to replace my i7-7700k. Currently using four 8GB Trident Z sticks at 3000MHz CL15. Worth considering adding more RAM? Gaming is usually the biggest use, but I might explore music production and see if it’s beneficial there too. Have a Samsung G7 Odyssey at 240Hz 1440p and plan to upgrade to 3080 when available. I lean toward lower settings for better frame rates.

Give them a shot at 16-16-16 or around 3200-3600; it could help you and cut costs. If not, upgrading to faster RAM would be a good idea—they’re built to handle it.

3000MHz multiplied by CL15 gives a 0.005ms response, while 3600MHz times CL16 equals 0.0044ms response. As freeagent suggests, I’d start by overclocking first. If that fails and you need maximum performance, then proceed.
