I was thinking about getting a new PC for Gen 3 but heard it might not be available all the time until March next year. The same applies to the new GPU. I was considering the 5900X because of its 12 cores, which would suit CAD work and some games. If I chose a CPU, it could be a 3700X or 3900X. Should I wait a few months or buy the CPU right away?

That's something we shouldn't be pushing right now. You might want to wait a few months instead.

Do you require the pref now? Then proceed with the purchase. Are you ready to wait longer? Purchase now.

If you're certain you need an AMD, I recommend buying the MB now. You can wait for a Zen 3, or opt for a Zen 2 if you need it sooner. The main issue is that once Zen 3 becomes available, those units will sell quickly alongside the MBs to back them. The only drawback is the restricted return window. Be aware that if you encounter problems, you may need to contact the vendor instead of returning it from the store. Keep that in mind as well.

Purchase x570/b550 and a very affordable Zen 2 chip, then switch to Zen 3 as soon as they're available in stock.
