The Ryzen 5 5600X would likely be the superior CPU choice. It should not cause a bottleneck with the RTX 3080, especially at higher resolutions. Performance may dip slightly at 1440p but is expected to hold up well at 2160p.

I favor Ryzen mainly because of its excellent value for money, but I’ll set aside my preference and share some details. The i7 tends to be more affordable (as per CPU.userbenchmark), offers more cores and threads, and provides similar power output. The Ryzen 5 is newer, likely retains higher resale value if you plan to sell it later, and uses 65 watts compared to the i7’s 125 watts, meaning less cooling is needed. I’d choose based on cost savings, unless you require the extra two cores from the i7. UserBenchmark results: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X vs Intel Core i7-10700K
