Hi Team, after five years the AIO has stopped working. I noticed a bios error about overheating CPU at boot on the NZXT Kraken X53. I’m considering swapping it for an OEM heatsink—specifically the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X (ASUS TUF B450-PLUS GAMING ATX) or the AMD Wraith Stealth OEM. Can you share the best steps to do this? I’m concerned about water spilling out, so I need guidance on whether to remove or replace the CPU paste. My original plan was to pull out the pump below the CPU, disconnect the CPU block, and let gravity reduce any spill. Am I on the right path? Thanks for your help—please see the photo you attached.
AIOs are sealed systems where the "block" and radiator are removed together. You don't need to take out hoses or anything else. It's simplest to place the PC on its side, unplug the "block / pump" unit. Then unscrew the fans or radiator assembly, and take out the block together. Following this method would make more sense if you followed an AIO installation video. Remember, once any CPU cooler is taken out, clean the paste and install fresh paste. Thermal paste is inexpensive, but PC components are costly—don't skip steps.
Aio is a sealed device that won’t leak unless you decide to dismantle it. A top-tier thermal performance unit will outperform your existing setup. You’ll need to refinish your CPU after installing a new cooler, as new ones usually come pre-pasted. If you have old paste from kitchen paper towels, scrape it off and clean the surface.
