Hey, I'm trying to set up my first PC soon and wanted to know about RAM. Specifically, I'm comparing two options: one with 2x8GB (possibly 16GB) at 3200MHz and another with 2x8GB at 4133MHz. Both seem similar in price, but I'm not sure which offers better performance. Should I prioritize lower latency or higher clock speed? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

CL14 at 3200 MHz will be simpler to install compared to CL16 at 4133 MHz.

This will connect to a processor that matches the frequency requirements. The bandwidth depends on the frequency, and latency is calculated using the division of frequency by CAS latency.

I’m okay with testing everything. I spent a lot of time on my current PC to make the RAM run at 3200MHz. I’m not sure what caused the issue, but it finally worked instead of showing a black screen.

I was a bit off with the latency on the 4133mhz RAM, mostly with cl18 or cl19. I found a kit with 4000mhz and cl16. All the RAMs I’ve checked are from G SKILL. The F4-4000C16D-16GTZR is around 30 to 40 dollars more, but I’m okay with that. I can’t afford a 4800mhz setup. My limit seems to be around 180 MB, not at first. When I enabled it, it would either not post or run with the motherboard cycling codes, but the screen stayed black. I tried changing voltages manually and saw a discussion about running one stick at a time, so I tried that too. Both worked individually, but together it functioned. I’m still a bit confused, but at least it’s stable now. Do you think a 4000mhz cl16 or something like F4-3600C14D-16GTZNB would be better?

4000C16 is a solid beginning. The main issue is the limited bandwidth you have, but lower latency is usually preferable. I recommend reducing the timing at 4000MHz.
