consider raising the maximum cpu current limit (A)?
consider raising the maximum cpu current limit (A)?
i'm attempting to push my CPU to 4.9 ghz and cache to 3.9 ghz, but it hits the maximum current limit—around 120 amps at 1,300v (some sources say 1,330v). I considered increasing the current limit, though I couldn't find anyone who has done this or asked about it before. Is it advisable to try this, or should I avoid it?
should you increase it is up to you and how much you want to risk cpu dmg to get your speed. increasing the voltage/current has to be done for higher and higher overclocks but it lowers the cpu life
currently at 120amps @1.3 volts is 156watts for a cpu originally running at 91 watts. i am not an intel expert but that is a large increase in power usage already.
i know on my amd fx i had to increase my current limit 10% on my cpu to get it to run 5ghz but i am still not running but 30% over its factory wattage. your at 73% increased power usage right now.
so in my personal view i would not push it and just leave it alone.
