Consider parts for a non-gaming setup in Photoshop.
Consider parts for a non-gaming setup in Photoshop.
Hello everyone. My eight-year-old PC has reached its limit, and I’m planning to assemble a setup for Photoshop, web browsing, and office applications. For my upcoming build, it’s challenging to locate resources that aren’t focused on gaming. I also don’t engage in gaming or video editing. I apologize if this comes across as presumptuous, but costs could increase significantly if people assumed I was building something else. I’ve decided to go with the i7-13700k CPU and everything else, though I’m not entirely confident about that choice.
I plan to reuse my three 7200RPM spindle SATA hard drives, one SATA DVD-RW drive, an ATX case, and a 4K monitor. I also have an old 8+ year-old M2 SSD that would be useful to repurpose.
So far, my thoughts on components and budget look like this:
SSD: 512GB to 1TB M2 SSD – possibly Samsung 980 Pro 1TB (~$100-150)
RAM: 64 GB DDR5 (32GB x 2) at around $150-200
Power Supply: 650-750W (~$120?)
Graphics: Nvidia 4GB video card; higher-end options aren’t necessary (~$150). I’d consider a refurb unit if possible.
CPU cooler? I’m not planning to use watercooling and won’t overclock. Cost unknown.
Motherboard: The main decision point. I’m leaning toward onboard LAN and WiFi, plus multiple USB-C ports. Budget around $200.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
