Adjusting the CPU overclock could only slightly boost your FPS numbers if your graphics card is the bottleneck. It may lower some low FPS thresholds, particularly in games that rely more on CPU processing such as MMOs.

I purchased the crosshair v111 hero with extra features like 700 CPU, 32 gigabytes of RAM, and careful attention to RGB lighting on the case and CPU fan. I ran benchmarks and found it barely runs without overclocking. Keep in mind that overclocking increases heat production, which can shorten component life. Does this level of care provide sufficient cooling for all that heat? Personally, I don’t enjoy overclocking much. While some games may benefit from a bit of overclocking, most games actually consume more GPU power than CPU. That’s why I keep the CPU idle and consider a backup GPU if needed.
