I have as I mentioned a mid 2012 Imac Mini. It maxes out at Catalina. I can't download the latest version of iMovie and the version I have isn't working. Should I just keep it with MacOS or should I throw Linux or Windows on it? I heard there is a patch to update it to Big Sure, is it worth it? Thanks.

You might want to use the OpenCore Legacy Patcher to bring your system to the latest operating system, though there are some limitations. (It seems graphics performance is still in beta.) https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Lega...l#mac-mini

Additionally, a patch can be applied using a patcher to install the necessary Kexts, ensuring your Mac runs at least on Catalina.

Consider these steps: OpenCore Legacy Patcher, install Big Sur, then proceed. Set up Windows 7 and experience its freedom. Use the sound patch method to install Windows 10 and enjoy it. Add Chrome OS from Google on the same system. Try Linux or stick with the older OS if you don’t mind missing out on newer features.

Void Linux offers a solid choice for your hardware: https://g5center.net/2021/01/02/into-the...linux-ppc/ The author’s views on browsing being difficult in Void are misleading. You can use Firefox, Epiphany, and Chromium—three great browsers. Install Brave or other options via the Nix package manager. Void excels at browsing. Many of his criticisms are outdated or incorrect, making it a strong option overall. He mentions XFCE appears dated but is actually one of the simplest desktops to tailor to your preferences. For instance, here’s my XFCE setup: https://voidlinux-ppc.org/download/

This connection won't function because the system is designed for x86 architecture while you're trying to link with a PowerPC Linux distribution.

Yes, my Mac runs an I5-2400 processor. I added Manjaro and everything functions smoothly.

Hi, I am on a late 2013 model iMac right now. You can use open core to install newer versions of MacOS. Mine maxes out at Catalina and I'm currently using Monterrey. Works very well. If it still has a hard drive, install an ssd- changes everything!
