Hello, I currently own an MSI x470 gaming carbon pro Ryzen 1700X. I'm seeking suggestions for upgrades to my motherboard and CPU. My main tasks involve video and photo editing, so I don’t need the absolute top-tier components. I’m looking for good value for the money, not necessarily the most expensive options. I have 64GB of 3600MHz RAM and would like something that makes better use of it than my current gaming carbon pro x470. I’m not aiming for the very latest models, just the best fit in terms of price and performance. Thanks for your help, Dan.
Confirming the details about this motherboard. The 1700x may encounter challenges with high-speed RAM unless demanding games are played. Some titles might still run smoothly on it. It appears capable of supporting up to 3466MHz, which is close to the 3600MHz range. The 1700 could face more significant issues. A common recommendation would be a Tomahawk Max B450 and a 3900X, though the budget isn’t clear. There are also options like the 3950 or Threadripper, but they’re quite pricey.
The 1700x while yes it has a really bad imc still does the job and if you do anything intensive it's mediocre fpu and ipc count not to mention it has 8 cores should be relatively decent I suggest waiting for zen 3
