My flatmates have the main router provided by ISP in their room. It offers solid speed, no disconnections, and seems fine enough. In my room, the 2.4GHz network is somewhat unstable, slow, and prone to odd delays. It works, but it’s not ideal. 5GHz isn’t functional at all there. My PC connects via Ethernet (I drilled a hole through the wall for one cable), which would be too cumbersome on a desktop. I also need better WiFi for my phone and laptop. What options exist? I’m considering a router with an access point feature, then linking my PC through Ethernet. Are there good devices for this setup? Or perhaps I should explore alternatives instead of a router? Range extenders don’t seem effective, but if anyone has a solid, affordable solution I’d be open to trying it.
