Recently a friend gifted me eight PCs. I’m unsure what to do with them. My plan was to set up a Linux distribution, but I don’t know which one to choose. They have Pentium D processors and just 1GB of RAM. I need something simple, easy to use, and lightweight. Any suggestions? Puppy Linux or Arch Linux might work? Thanks!

Sell them for a few bucks. These kinds of setups don’t really add up, honestly.

Consider them only if you’re unsure how to use them. Those kinds of computers would be too much for me...

Do you think they could be useful? I don’t want eight outdated computers that don’t work the way I need. I have no intention of keeping them or storing them anywhere if they’re not needed. If you don’t have a use for them, just get rid of them, donate, or dispose of them safely.

Perhaps you should only sell them for less than thirty dollars if you put in the work, otherwise it’s a scam. As I mentioned, it’s simpler to just throw them away.

What software or hardware should I add to those devices?

I reside in Australia... I think they’d be worth about $100

They’re not allowing the sale of Linux distributions, and charging that much for something around Christmas is really unfair. It’s not making things better.

I was recommending what software to add for those devices. The outcome is set, but I need to find out which updates are best for older systems.
