Consider consulting Mr. Su for advice on your BGA - LGA CPU issue.
Hello, I'm starting to assemble my initial PC build. My budget is roughly CAD$750 to $800. I initially considered Ryzen for its upgrade potential and strong performance, but in Canada the prices are higher—about CAD$20 to $50 more. I looked for better options and explored BGA-LGA CPUs, which offer good value. Motherboards with solid VRM support can be affordable too. Tutorials on BIOS modifications are often limited in depth or language. Should I proceed with this path or hold off until Ryzen prices drop? Thanks for your advice! (The used market in my area is very limited.)
BGA and LGA describe how chips attach to a circuit board. LGA refers to the Land Grid Array design, commonly used by Intel for desktop chips and some mobile processors. BGA stands for Ball Grid Array, where the chips are directly soldered onto the motherboard. It’s confusing to ask about "BGA-LGA CPUs" because these terms describe different connection methods.
The price of an i5 10400 varies depending on the seller and region. Are you checking specific models or a general budget? What are your expectations for performance and features?
The video features the CPU used in the ruthless economy PC build. I'll check that for you. Thanks!
The i5 10400 F is roughly CAD$170 to 180. I also researched this CPU and found it to be quite solid, though I was concerned about the RAM speed being capped at 2666mhz. A video from GamersNexus highlighted a noticeable performance gap. Maybe I'm focusing too much on charts. Still, the QNCT only supports up to 2666mhz RAM, which makes z490 boards quite pricey—around CAD$220 to 250. B460 motherboards are more affordable. My budget sits between CAD$750 and $800, and I’m considering the QNCT 8th gen? Coffee Lake.
Dr. Remember to check CPU and motherboard costs when evaluating price versus performance.
It seems the current CPU prices for this motherboard are quite high in my region, often pricier than a decent B450 motherboard. I think I'll wait a few more months until availability and prices stabilize. I might also explore cheaper Intel options like the i5 10400F. Thanks for the input—I appreciate it! (New here, so I’m still figuring out how to manage entries)
