Consider changing your current PS/2 keyboard to a wireless version?
I'm currently using an IBM PS/2 model M Keyboard with a USB adapter. It functions well, but mapping the Caps Lock key to the Windows key is inconvenient. I'm looking for a wireless keyboard that offers the same feel and includes volume control. I've tried several Steelseries and Razer models, but they didn't perform well—keys were unstable and movement wasn't smooth, making typing inaccurate. I plan to use this setup with Windows 11, Linux, and Mac OS X via a KVM. What keyboards would you recommend?
I've experimented with several Steelseries and Razer keyboards, though they didn't perform well. Could you specify which keyboards you've tried? It would help to avoid confusing similar models. Your budget, location, and preferred buying site are important too—maybe consider a basic mechanical keyboard and customize it for your typing style? This could be worth exploring further.
The noticeable shape in the center of the keyboard resembles an IBM Wheelwriter typewriter that you're missing:
Although they don't offer wireless or volume options, the 105-key New Model M and 87-key Mini M include Windows keys and USB. They've been available for four years now.
It seems a few users were frustrated about mechanical switches not binding properly when not pressed straight down, so they decided to purchase a custom curved keyboard frame. There are standard mechanical keyboards with a concave design like the IBM, but these use angled keycaps that create a noticeable difference between the top and bottom rows. Or you might simply adapt to a flat keyboard—eventually, you'd become more precise with one.
Thanks for the link... It's really useful!
I've used the Ornata Chroma and Steelseries Apex 100 and Apex 3 before. Having them made testing easy.
My preferred wireless keyboard is a Cherry Stream. It's not as smooth as the M-series, but it works fine. I don't play games much, so I prefer something that doesn't require light pressure on the keys.
@BFG-9000 mentioned, the shape of the keyboard really impacts comfort. That's something hard to find.
I'm located in Canada and aiming for about $100, though the actual satisfaction depends on how it feels. I buy from Amazon.ca and MemoryExpress.com, but I can shop anywhere.
Based on my research, I was considering a Chronkey V6 Max or K10 Max with banana switches, but I'm still exploring options.
For wireless and quiet performance, I recommend a Logitech MX keyboard:

It can connect to up to 3 computers, which may allow you to replace the KVM.
It seems like you're considering a new keyboard setup. You already own a low-profile Cherry keyboard, which is decent but not as refined as the Model M. You're thinking about switching between four systems while sharing the keyboard, mouse, screen, and webcam, so you want to maintain the KVM.
What about the Corsair K65 Plus mac version?

It's beautiful to type on.
Right now I'm testing out a Logitech G213 that was just handed to me... It's not wireless, but it feels quite good. The main issue is the keys near the ";" key are really noisy compared to the rest of the keyboard.
I'm confused about how people can make such a decision without actually trying it out first.
