My computer appears in this state right now: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/w7ng34. It was assembled in 2019, giving it over four years of use. It has worked fine, but it struggles with some newer titles. While it can run them, I often need to lower the graphics settings and use upscaling to make them play. I frequently close background programs like my browser and turn off instant replay to improve performance. Right now, I’m not willing to spend hundreds on upgrades. Since purchasing a new SSD with DDR5 would be costly, boosting my RAM to 32GB seems like a reasonable step. I currently have 16GB of Ripjaws V at 3200MHz. I discovered another bundle with the same amount for 40€. Would this upgrade be worthwhile at the moment? I don’t see any other options that would make a difference for the price. Or should I wait a bit longer for a more significant improvement? I’m skeptical about waiting much longer, as the PC still meets most of my requirements.

It makes little sense purchasing additional DDR4 if you plan to switch to DDR5 soon. However, if you're not upgrading, it's still a reasonable choice. The main benefit is improved overall performance and smoother multitasking, which can enhance your experience. But it won't aid games that require minimal settings or high-quality upscaling.

Do you require additional memory? If not, skip the extra package. Is your CPU limiting your GPU performance? For example, if CPU usage stays below around 70-80% while GPU usage is low, it should aid multitasking but likely won’t help during games with open browsers since videos will still consume CPU resources. Your setup lacks a mesh panel, which isn’t ideal for temperature management. However, if your temperatures remain normal, you might not need an upgrade. A case such as the Zalman S2 Zalman S2 ATX Mid Tower (S2) or the Deepcool CC560 ATX Mid Tower (R-CC560-BKGAA4-G-1) could work well.

This setup can be significantly enhanced with minimal investment. Increasing RAM to 40€ offers a modest improvement. Installing a Ryzen 5700X for 150-200€ provides a noticeable upgrade. Upgrading the GPU to models like Radeon 6800/6800XT or 7800XT costs between 500-600€, while a Radeon 6700XT/6750XT ranges from 350-400€, delivering a substantial performance lift.

Have you looked at your memory consumption? It's unlikely to be a problem even with 80% utilization.

A quicker CPU enables smoother multitasking. The 5700xt GPU performs similarly to a 1080ti. You're likely using your 1440p screen with a secondary 1080p display? Have you experimented with swapping them to test performance? In my experience, memory probably won't make a big difference and I'd invest around $200 in a 5700x, 5800x or 5600x3d if needed. Both options should fit your motherboard after a BIOS update. The 5700x has a 65w TDP, while the other CPUs have higher at 105w. Your cooler can handle up to 130w. Unless you're constantly running Cinebench, you shouldn't expect thermal issues unless your build is tight. For me, I'd prefer 1080p medium to high over 1440p low—maybe that's all you need for a bit more longevity.

Over 90% of menus are smooth, nearing 100% during gameplay. About 60% stays idle.

Maybe I’ll opt for a different CPU. Would extra RAM still be necessary given the high demand? It’s a bit tricky moving to my secondary monitor because of its placement and compact size. I’ve tested 1080p on a 1440p screen, but the quality isn’t as impressive as upscaled 1440p. Thanks for the CPU suggestions—I’ll take them into account.

It would be wise to upgrade the RAM and CPU.

They usually hit their limits in games, the GPU stays near full capacity during tough titles. I missed mentioning that I close background apps in intense games, which helps a bit with performance. One game in particular (FIFA 23) has an issue where the controller stops unexpectedly. The only fix I’ve tried is turning off instant replay and closing other apps. This works for this game, though it’s not a universal solution. I still think more memory would be useful to keep the feature active. Thanks for the tips, but temperatures are okay!
