Consider a modern router for improved performance and security.
My Linksys device has been behaving oddly recently. It no longer filters content properly and now blocks certain websites after just a few days of use. After running Malwarebytes, no threats were detected—though the scan didn’t catch the exploit targeting my browser, which is why they performed extensive cleanup. I also re-flashed the firmware to rule out corruption. Whenever I notice more blocking, I power cycle both my Spectrum modem and router, which resolves the issue temporarily. Still, it keeps happening. I’m uncertain what else to try before considering a replacement. If you’d like, I can share any logs or details you have from Malwarebytes. My plan supports 300 Mbps, but the current router caps at 100 Mbps per device. It uses Wi-Fi for most connections, with two PCs connected via Ethernet. We live in a 1,200 sq ft apartment. I’m not sure what additional information you might need. I’d appreciate suggestions for a solid router or mesh system capable of handling up to 2.5 Gbps, featuring four Ethernet ports and strong built-in tools. This Linksys model is clearly struggling—maybe it’s time for a fresh start?
