Lately while downloading files, the speed fluctuates between 10Kbps and 100Kbps. I’m sure my PC and internet service can go up to 1Gbps, but I’m puzzled about why it doesn’t reach that. Could it be the servers I’m connecting to are slow? Here’s what I have: a Ryzen 7 1700 with 8GB DDR4, an Aegis Gigabye, MSI 1070, and Cat5e internet.

When downloading from outdated or slow servers, you'll face limitations due to their systems not matching yours. Downloading from newer platforms like Steam or Battle.net can cause issues. Have you checked your internet speed? Use http://www.speedtest.net to assess your hardware and connection quality.

I think my internet provider is restricting my speed. I’m paying for a 1Gbps plan but only getting about 367Mbps download. It seems the latest files I’ve downloaded are old programs and games from 2002, which likely points to the server issues. Still, I should discuss other problems with my ISP. Thanks.

I subscribe to 1Gbps via Spectrum, though I believe I've reached over 700Mbps before. My typical speed is usually between 400-600Mbps. I'm confident they offer guarantees for speeds up to 1Gbps rather than fluctuating performance. About two years ago, I used Google Fiber which consistently provided around 800Mbps.

Consider running a speedtest.net check. If results show poor download speeds, it suggests the problem lies with the server side.
