Hey! I put together a new setup for my girlfriend last weekend, but she’s been facing some odd internet problems while using Windows 11. YouTube and other online tasks are lagging a lot. When she hosts Civilization V, the others often disconnect, and when she tries to join, it doesn’t work. Her download speed is about 900Mbps, but uploads are only around 20Mbps. We’ve checked opening the firewall, changing DNS, resetting network settings, disabling network adapters, updating drivers, and even used an Ethernet connection. I’m really hoping someone can help since it’s not clear what’s going on. Thanks in advance!
Regards, Stelle

Her router is quite old, and it might not function properly even when connected to yours.

We reside in separate homes, yet evaluating a mobile hotspot could be practical. The router seems up-to-date and still applicable today.

Check if the PC is connected straight to the router or through a device like a switch or modem.

It connects to the main network switch using fiber optic. I haven't checked the router's network setup yet...

Use the same cable on your laptop or PC to check performance. It might indicate a faulty cable. Try opening Command Prompt and running ping 1.1.1.1 -t to see if the ping stays consistent. Determine her internet type—ADSL, coax, fiber—and whether she resides in an apartment complex.
