Hello, I'm facing some network difficulties and would appreciate any suggestions. My PC has a 1GB connection, but the speed test shows normal performance. However, web pages load slowly—sometimes in just a few seconds, other times up to a minute. I have an Intel 2060 Ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB RAM connected via a Cat 6 Ethernet cable. I've ruled out hardware issues since my neighbors are also experiencing similar problems. I've reset the fiber box, changed DNS settings, used Wi-Fi, toggled the fiber switch on and off, and even adjusted the ports. Disabled antivirus and firewall, but ISP claims it thinks we have three devices connected to the network over Ethernet, though only two are active. One device is going through the Wi-Fi switch, while my switch is connected to it. I'm unsure what else I should try, and I'd like to check further while my ISP investigates.

Have you explored another DNS setting? Which sites are you checking? Is this consistent across the entire web? Remember, even with a high-speed connection of 10 Gbps, a slow server connection is entirely your responsibility.

@CaiPott suggested testing a different DNS address. The most effective method is using the ISP router's web console, though they often restrict this option. You can also adjust the TCP/IPv4 settings on your network adapter, setting the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 (Google's free DNS) and observe the results. I have a Pi-Hole server at 192.168.0.96, so it’s configured accordingly. If the server isn’t reachable, traffic will route through my router at 192.168.0.1. Do all devices on your network experience slow web page loading, or is this issue limited to your own PC?

They've experimented with various platforms including Facebook, Google, YouTube, anime sites, and even Twitch. Just looking for content took around 20 seconds to load properly.

i mentioned in the text that i've already tested multiple dns providers including several cloudflare, google's, cleanbrowsing, gcore, and i can't recall trying any other. it seems all the clients are experiencing issues, and even my psp5 is running slowly. my roommates' phones are also affected.

while discussing with the ISP I suspect the fiber box might be the issue, since we experienced similar problems before switching to them

It might be the problem. Did you tell your internet service provider about it? Which provider are you using, and in which area do you live?

The network infrastructure is owned and managed by Openreach (formerly BT) in the UK, with ISPs renting space for their own users. In Denmark, you should contact Waoo to forward your issue to the relevant authority. You may also reach the main provider directly, though they are reluctant to do so.
