Connection timeout after 30 seconds of inactivity.
Hey everyone, my PC has been experiencing major internet problems since this afternoon. It can't maintain a connection beyond about 30 seconds before it crashes. I run the troubleshooter which temporarily resolves the issue for roughly half a minute before it fails again. When I use it, the messages say the link between my access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken. The system reports "The default gateway is not available." Disabling and re-enabling the network adapter also helps for about 30 seconds. I've performed a network reset, reinstalled Windows, and even set the IP and DNS manually. However, when it recovers, only IVp4 connects while IVp6 stays disconnected. This is my first PC built in February, and I'm worried the Ethernet port might be faulty from the start (I don't see status lights). I've replaced the cable and router, but the issue persists. Please help me more than just Windows support, which suggested contacting my provider.
Hello, could you share the details of your NIC and router models, as well as any additional network equipment like access points or extenders? I’m curious about the setup between them since the default gateway isn’t showing up. I’ll check the manufacturer’s website using the IP address from your router’s settings to help troubleshoot. If you share the make and model, I can review the documentation and guide you through the steps.
Execute sfc /scannow from an administrator's command prompt. Restore chipset and network drivers.
I purchased fresh cables but haven’t seen any improvement. The drivers were recently updated, yet the system still shows they’re current.
Router receives a firmware upgrade every evening at midnight. Web access isn't functioning properly. Router model is DECO x55, and a NIC refers to a network interface card.
A NIC is a Network Interface Card, essentially the Ethernet or Wi-Fi module you use to link to your home network. These Deco x55 models can be set up as routers or access points. Personally, I prefer access points because they tend to work better and don’t affect speed or performance. You can adjust this in the Deco app. If that doesn’t help, try connecting through your ISP’s web interface instead of the Deco. From there you can follow the advice I provided previously.
These adjustments resolved the problem. I wish I had tried them earlier before the factory reset ;/
