I've worked with real VM lab setups in college environments. Options include streaming servers via Steam for smoother access, running Steam inside VMs for decent performance with some CPU load on the host, or using RDI. Remote login speeds are constrained by Microsoft's older RDP protocol, which pushes their RDI solution.
