Hi, I’m facing an issue when trying to play CS2. I keep connecting to Hong Kong servers, which causes high ping from Europe. It only happens when using the Ethernet cable through my router. With a phone connected via USB, it works fine. I’ve tried setting a lower ping limit, but it doesn’t help much. Is this related to Valve servers, my router, or my internet provider? Thanks for your understanding.

I don’t have a VPN and I’m unsure if I can install one without my permission. I should mention earlier it functioned for two weeks, but it’s now gone again.

Additionally, they reached out to Steam support, who admitted they weren’t aware they were merely sharing standard troubleshooting manuals.

I don't play CS2, yet I've noticed these problems often. The Steam client sends requests to servers, aiming for the one with the lowest ping. However, internet traffic and DNS settings can cause it to point to incorrect servers. What can you do? You might try connecting to different servers, pause the game, and reconnect later. This could fix the first connection issues. Consider changing your DNS providers to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google) so ISP servers aren't a factor. This helps only if the game connects via URLs; it doesn't affect direct IP connections. If that fails, using a VPN like ProtonVPN and switching your country might help you reach other servers instead of Hong Kong. Good luck!
