It seems the setup isn’t quite as it should be. The part shouldn’t be clipped onto the connector side, and you should be able to remove it easily. It might be hanging from the heatsink instead. This installation method hasn’t been something I’ve seen before.
You're being too detailed, just adjust your grip and use the cable wisely. Focusing on the left side of the plug helps distribute pressure evenly. Since the 8-pin connector is split, try removing it in sections. It's tougher than it looks, but keeping the clip open while working makes a big difference. Taking off the heatsink isn't recommended.
