Hello, I'm configuring a Chromecast without a router for a friend. An iPhone 11 hotspot will work via WiFi. Everything connects except the laptop. Local WiFi includes the laptop and everything else. (This network won’t be active later). Another phone is used for control (OnePlus 5): all devices connect, including the laptop. But the laptop still can’t link to the iPhone 11 hotspot. When she leaves, she won’t have my devices to assist. She’ll only have the laptop and iPhone, which won’t work. How should I get the laptop to connect to the iPhone? It seems every other setup works for both, but they can’t communicate. The laptop freezes when checking network requirements and then stops. Laptop model: Asus R417YA-GA044TS. WLAN card: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377. Driver version tried 12.0.0.1257 (three versions). Could the iPhone be interfering with the laptop? I’m not very familiar with iPhones. Thanks for all your help.

The common issue is that the iPhone lacks a name, so it treats any hotspot as "iPhone," just like other iPhones. This means if the laptop was connected to another iPhone—even with an old password—it will remember that data and might not recognize it as incorrect. To verify, check the "known wireless networks" settings to see if an iPhone network is already saved. If not, it could be because the iPhone is only set to WPA3 and the laptop doesn’t support it.

Sure, you might want to modify the name on your iPhone or use a different password to resolve connection issues.

They're correct. I learned about this about an hour after posting. Windows doesn't accept standard iPhone names with spaces. Thanks a lot. It's functioning now.
