Connection issue arises when using the Quest 2 link cable over time.
Hey everyone, this issue first popped up roughly three years back without any clear reason. Usually it happens after a short while—sometimes just a few seconds, other times up to half an hour—and suddenly the view or my controllers lock in place. The game or app keeps running, but I’m stuck. Once I reach that point, the only solution is to restart my headset and re-establish the link. What’s interesting is that the problem disappears when using Airlink. There are occasional minor connection drops, but overall it works fine. Recently, Airlink itself has faced more serious issues, which are quite different from this one. That led me to focus on fixing the physical connection instead.
My setup now uses a USB-C to USB-C cable (not the official type, but rated for VR and should work based on reviews). I’ve tried all available software fixes—clearing Oculus folders, reinstalling the app, running the Oculus debug tool, etc. A Reddit post mentioned possible power delivery or data transfer issues. Apparently, upgrading to a dedicated USB-C PCIe adapter resolved it for others.
I’m considering this next step, but I’d love some advice before proceeding. Maybe someone has a workaround unrelated to this. Also, if you’re curious, here are my specs: B-450 Aorus Pro 6600XT, 5GB RAM, 5600MHz CPU, 3200MHz RAM, 600W power, Pure Power 11 CM Modular (80+ Gold). It’s a solid build—just a bit quiet!
