This is a complicated issue Hi, I live in Lebanon. Have adsl connection. In the last year, internet started disconnecting randomly, the internet light on my modem would go off, also ping will spike mid games. I had to restart it each time, this would solve the problem. I contacted my isp, they sent a team and found nothing wrong with the line. So they told me that the problem is on my behalf. 1st replaced my old Linksys with tp-link TD-W8961N, the good thing is that tplink would restart on its own, and will take 2 min instead of 5. 2nd I replaced the filter, internal line (going from modem to filter). But the problem persisted. The only thing left to replace was the line going from the telephone junction box to my apartment, The ISP told me its the reason for the disconnections since whenever I touched it a static noise would be heard through the landline. I hesitated since it costs a lot and it shouldn't get damaged since its an external line going through the building towards my apartment and into the other end of the filter. finally replaced the external line, the static noise is gone but unfortunately the issue persisted. I'm frustrated, internet disconnected 3 times in the last 30 minutes Please HELP

If the modem is swapped and the connection remains unstable despite a good cable setup, continue contacting the ISP. They usually don’t detect issues initially, but persistent effort eventually leads to a resolution.

It seems your ISP has overloaded their DSL connection (the external link your modem uses). Most DSL systems react this way when the outside connection is busy. To verify, try browsing the web during off-peak hours and check if the problem continues. Also, reach out to neighbors on the same ISP to see if they’re experiencing the same issue simultaneously.

The problem started randomly at 2 am with six disconnections in one hour, then remained offline for 48 hours straight. The updated monitoring tool helps track these drops, showing interruptions during sleep or outdoor activities. So far, no clear pattern has emerged.

Is your router able to keep logs? During my time on an ADSL2 connection, it maintained a negotiation log with the DSLAM, allowing me to follow the activity of someone who disconnected and reconnected all the cables at midnight.

It looks a bit complicated. I’m using a TP-Link device and have tried VDSL. The ISP plans to replace it soon, which might help with speed and latency. They said you should see improved performance.

CenturyLink's update affected my modem because the chipset didn't align properly, causing problems. Making sure the chipsets are compatible and function smoothly between the DSLAM and the modem improves performance. Watching this video can really assist you.

VDSL is delivered by a DSLAM inside a cabinet on the street, significantly nearer your location compared to the exchange for ADSL. This proximity means fewer old or faulty telephone cables and less interference, resulting in faster and more stable connections. Keep in mind that if your ISP doesn’t offer VDSL, you’ll need a dedicated VDSL router.
