When joining Discord calls, my USB devices often disconnect before reconnecting. It seems to be related to software issues—only works during calls and not in games. I reported this to Discord, but they only said Bluetooth audio quality isn’t good and didn’t follow up. I attached a video showing the problem. I’ve also tried switching my audio settings to legacy mode, but it didn’t help. Video: video-1659931974.mp4

I’m not certain the USB dropout problem is directly connected to AMD’s issues with Ryzen processors. Have you attempted removing Discord and restoring it?

I guess I didn’t try hard enough. Let’s give it another shot and check if it works again. I’m using an Intel 12700k with an RTX 3080ti.

Verify that your chipset and USB drivers are current for your motherboard.

I verified once more after reinstalling Discord, and it occurred again. I’m dealing with an XMP issue, so my BIOS, chipset, and motherboard are definitely up to date. I downloaded the firmware for my Asus Z690 Plus WiFi motherboard from the provided link. No USB driver listed, but I installed the firmware and plan to test it later. Thanks for the assistance—this new PC is great, though I’ve spent a month fixing many problems. I’ll also reinstall the audio driver just in case. Edit: Here are the drivers I’m checking if anyone has any ideas about what “firmware” means.

It would be necessary to address the XMP concern. A possible memory glitch might be disrupting performance. Have you completed all memory tests for your new setup? If not, obtain MemTest and flash it onto a USB drive, then execute the full suite. Any failure could lead to instability and unexpected system behavior. I can't confirm the exact cause, but testing is recommended. MemTest86 link: https://www.memtest86.com/

Phew, that was a long wait. It took about 5 and a half hours. No mistakes were found, which is good news. I was worried about RAM problems, but I believe it’s not the case since my previous instability issues were resolved after updating the BIOS. My main concern was running at 3200Mhz instead of the required 3100Mhz—actually, that’s fine for me. I think we can eliminate RAM as a factor. It seems the test used my XMP profile from BIOS, though I couldn’t confirm it. Discord support suggested resetting voice settings, which I plan to try but haven’t done yet because I disabled debug logging during a previous issue where games like Halo and Valorant would freeze Steam when closing. Let’s restart and see.

Your request is straightforward, activating your USB temporary protection. The situation arises when using Discord, as your microphone and webcam become active (or wake up) and draw more current, which triggers the USB port safeguard. This causes excessive power usage from your USB connections. To resolve this, disconnect power-hungry devices like your keyboard and webcam, or use a USB-powered hub connected to the wall, providing extra power and easing the load on your motherboard's USB ports.

It looks like you're sharing some thoughts about your old PC setup. You’re reflecting on why you didn’t think about this before, noting how many USB devices fit well because they all connect to the same hub. You mention a few specific items and even jokingly suggest buying a powered hub now. It seems you’re still trying to figure out the best way to proceed and are curious about updates or support options.
