Connecting audio devices to display systems
Hello, I have various devices I'm attempting to connect and integrate. I'm uncertain about compatibility or wiring, and I want to know if it will function properly. Here are the items and their connections as shown in the pictures:
Panasonic Viera Plasma TV (non-smart)
TV
HP Pavillion g series

Right
Logitech X-540 speakers (subwoofer with 5 speakers)
speakers
Harman/Kardon hk 590i radio/receiver
receiver
Pioneer DV-270 cd/dvd player (may not be necessary as the HP laptop already has a CD/DVD player)
DVD
Well, linking the laptop to the speakers is the simplest part; just plug the green cable from the speakers into the headphone jack on the laptop. This gives you stereo sound, which is all the laptop can provide. You might also consider purchasing an adapter cable to connect the laptop to the HK receiver. Linking the TV directly to the speakers isn’t feasible because the TV only outputs audio via an SPDIF optical connection. Even more problematic, your HK receiver doesn’t seem to have any optical inputs, making a direct connection impossible. You could attempt using a third-party optical digital-to-analog converter box; they are available on Amazon in various models.
