I'm working on a new setup and need advice on the CPU power connectors. I've connected two 8-pin connectors to my PSU, but when trying to use both on the motherboard, only one 8-pin slot is available and a four-pin connector appears beside it. Will using just one 8-pin and leaving the other four unused on the board work?

Image loading fails but with an 8+4 pin on your motherboard, you can only add one extra 8-pin connector because the 7800x3d model is quite power-efficient.

The 1x8 pin EPS CPU power connector provides ample support. It supports continuous power up to 225W and short bursts up to 336W. Additional pins on some boards are included for overclocking or cosmetic purposes, but they’re mostly for show. It’s unnecessary unless you push overclocking limits. The 1x8 pin setup works perfectly for the CPU power needs.

Ensure the other 8pin is removed from the PSU if possible, or secure it firmly. Everything appears fine and safe.
