Hello everyone,

This problem started about three weeks ago. To be honest, I wasn’t facing any issues before and haven’t been able to pinpoint the cause until recently. One evening while watching a friend stream on Discord, my internet suddenly dropped. It was quite normal. Within roughly twenty minutes it was restored after I performed a router reset. However, from that point on, I’ve experienced major difficulties when trying to browse the web.

Specifically, only browsing works well. As someone who plays games, I can play for extended periods of time—like hours in Apex Legends or World of Warcraft—without any interruptions. In contrast, loading a short YouTube video (around two minutes) is extremely slow; waiting 2 to 4 minutes just to load it properly would be unacceptable. For videos longer than that, the delay becomes even more frustrating.

This issue appears across all three major browsers: Edge, Firefox, and Chrome.

My computer is mid-range (built around two years ago), but I suspect this isn’t a hardware problem. I have high-speed internet (Fiber). I’ve already reset my router and home connection, cleared browser caches, flushed DNS entries, reinstalled the three browsers individually, updated drivers, checked firewall settings, and even turned them off to test for differences. Still, no success.

I’m not sure what to do next. I know the exact date and time it happened, and I’ve checked my system files for any recent downloads or installs around that period. I’ve found two entries, but I’m unsure if they’re coincidental or essential for normal operation. I don’t want to risk uninstalling something important and breaking Windows. This seems to be a problem specific to my computer. Other devices on the network aren’t affected.

I’m hoping you can offer some guidance. Thanks in advance!

I would begin by turning off IPv6. It's incredible how many simple adjustments can resolve issues. You'd need to sign in to your router to check the DNS settings.
