Hi everyone, I own a Gigabyte GA-H170-Gaming 3 motherboard with a Samsung MZ-V5P256BW 256 M.2 drive set up as Windows 10 boot. The M.2 slot is in the lower M.2 position, right under the graphics card. I have two 3TB Barracude 3.5" HDDs in the SATA slots. It seems the M.2 drive was starting to struggle—slower performance and longer boot times. I replaced it with a new Samsung MZ-V8V1T0BW 1TD M.2 drive in the higher slot, closer to the CPU, intending to transfer the OS there. After the swap, neither mechanical drive shows up in Disk Management. I’ve also reconnected and reconnected the SATA cables. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ren.

Chipset includes 2 x M.2 Socket 3 connectors (supporting SATA and PCIe SSDs) along with 2 x SATA Express ports and 6 x 6 Gb/s SATA connectors. It backs RAID configurations such as RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and RAID 10. Refer to "1-8 Internal Connectors" for supported setups involving M.2, SATA Express, and SATA ports. It's common for some SATA ports to be disabled during M.2 installation, typically the final two ports are turned off.

Review page 17. Placing the m.2 near the graphics card slot can make HDDs appear or rearrange themselves to different ports on the motherboard.

Hey team, changed them from levels 1 and 2 to 4 and 5, and everything is working again.
