You can't simply update the router's software and expect it to fix everything. Make sure the device is compatible before proceeding, or you might lose it forever. I don’t know if Velop offers support for custom firmware.

Yes, you can format it as a system format if needed.

The Velop functions as a network of interconnected nodes. You might add another node and rely on the mesh design... OR connect an Ethernet cable from the ISP gateway directly to the single Velop and switch it to bridge mode.

I purchased just one at Walmart for 30 dollars, thinking it would work as a wireless bridge. Maybe I’ll have to keep searching or switch to a Linksys model that supports that feature.

It would be wiser to acquire another Velop node and set up a mesh network. Wireless bridging tends to be less stable and can lead to performance issues for all connected clients. Take some time to understand the distinction. What led you to consider using just one Velop in this way initially?

I initially intended to use it in a wireless bridge configuration, since I require Ethernet access in the upper section of my home.

The marketing may have been misleading, since Velops and comparable AIO mesh setups typically don't accommodate this setting, which undermines the main reason for purchasing such a system.
