Hello, during my troubles with the PC, I attempted to use a Wi-Fi card from an old laptop that no longer functions. I installed the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 3160 into my desktop HP Pavilion 510-P134NL, which had the same motherboard and should have worked. However, it’s showing error code 10 and doesn’t connect properly. After uninstalling and reinstalling drivers automatically, the issue persists. I’m confident the card is functional, as it worked on the laptop yesterday. Appreciate any advice you can offer.
With all the HP systems I've had, the parts are very locked down, and unless the wifi card came from another HP product: there's a decent chance that the system sees something that it doesn't have on its validated components list and will just blow a raspberry. You can also connect via Ethernet and then use HP's support site to find the drivers for the cars it should have and then get that exact part number card.
I was really surprised to learn about HP systems. I wasn't sure if the drivers would work with the original system I had, especially since it's a Lenovo model. I just hoped it would function similarly to the one on the original desktop. Thanks for your assistance!
They really appreciate HP items—they perform well and are easy to fix, as long as you use genuine components.
