Is the device you're attempting to connect supporting 5GHz? If not, you'll need to adjust your router's configuration and turn on that frequency.

The concept of 5GHz Ethernet does exist, but it is not referred to as 5Ghz ethernet. It typically describes Ethernet connections operating at the 5 GHz frequency band.

Many routers follow the same default name and let devices pick between them. I prefer a different setting, so I adjust it myself.

It's referred to as band-steering, directing devices that support 5GHz toward the 5GHz spectrum. It's quite beneficial.

In my mesh setup I don’t have the choice to split between 2.4/5GHz channels... yet I haven’t noticed any device placed on the 2.4GHz band even though it supports 5GHz.
