I wanted to connect my HP inject to my wireless network for local printing, yet prevent it from accessing the internet so it doesn’t update firmware or transmit data to HP. My device is a HP7002 and I’m using a Nighthawk mesh router MR60. I’ve tried Access Control, which suggested network access but no internet. When that was enabled, the printer disappeared from the network.

I don’t believe this gadget offers a custom firewall setting. While I can configure a fixed IP for the printer, it doesn’t allow additional configurations beyond that address. This interface isn’t very helpful.

I checked the router settings and overlooked the printer section. I attempted to restrict services on the router, successfully blocking the printer at 192.168.1.5. However, the printer remains offline with no internet access, preventing firmware updates.
