You have two QLOGIC PX2810403-29 units, each equipped with an SFP+ transceiver supporting 8 Gb/s. Your current setup only supports up to 1 Gb/s via SPF. Connecting them directly with an OM3 LC-to-LC cable isn't feasible because the speed mismatch prevents proper signal transmission. You'd need a compatible transceiver or a higher-speed interface to bridge the gap.

You have two options for SFP connections: two SFPs and a fiber, or a Direct Attached Copper (DAC) cable. It's essentially a twinax cable with a fixed SFP at each end. You can purchase new ones, but 10 gig DACs are affordable on the used market. https://www.startech.com/en-us/networking-io/sfp/cables

I’m not sure if you can find an OM3 fiber under $10, but it’s unlikely unless you’re shopping in a very budget-friendly area.

You’re able to proceed. Just confirm the transceivers you own or plan to purchase are compatible with your card. I recently purchased an FTLX8571D3BCL SFP+ from eBay roughly 30 minutes ago, along with some fiber from moniprice. They should function well with my existing conectX-2 cards. In theory, everything should work smoothly, and the cost was around $25.

You already have SFPs ready to use. Otherwise, a brief DAC cable would be more cost-effective.

Although fibre is significantly longer and removes any risk of grounding problems, it is also considerably thinner making it simpler to handle.
