I made an error mixing up the USB C Gen 1 and 2 specifications when purchasing a motherboard. Now I own a VDH WIFI PRO board that only includes a USB C Gen 1 connector. I needed an expansion to add a USB C Gen 2 port, but I’m unsure how to do it. I noticed a device that converts USB 3.0 to USB C Gen 2, yet this board only has one of those ports. I’m trying to locate a cable that provides another USB 3.0 header, but since the board is micro ATX, it lacks the extra PCIe slot. My idea is to search for a cable or suggestions that would let me connect a USB C Gen 2 header directly or install an additional USB 3.0 port. Any recommendations or links would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I have a 3.1 Gen 2 port installed on my device. You're correct about connecting it to the Gen 1 port on your board.

You're looking for an alternative phrasing that avoids certain terms.

I understand the situation. The NZXT H510 case supports USB C for Gen 1 and 2, but your drawing tablet requires a 10Gbps connection via a single cable. Using the front port with a USB C Gen 1 header doesn’t work.

Basically, I already have a USB C Gen 1 port on my board, but I need Gen 2. I referred to the 3.0 to USB C Gen 2 connector because it was the only option I could think of. The issue is that I only have one USB 3.0 header, which is already in use for another port (H510). I’m looking for an alternative way to get a Gen 2 header.

The motherboard supports only "USB 3.2 Gen 1 5Gbps" connections. Any adjustments require purchasing a different motherboard.

That setup should function if you connect the correct headers and ensure compatibility between your device and the expansion.

Consider your goal carefully. For a USB 3.0 card, achieving USB 3.2 Gen 2 performance isn't possible. Look for a compatible USB 3.2 Gen 2 expansion card.

It's likely you're referring to PCIe x1 slots, which are limited in bandwidth. Generally, you can't exceed the data transfer speed your motherboard supports.

Expansion cards remain the sole solution, and it seems no options exist for PCI-E x1.
