Hi everyone, I'll get my new motherboard next week. I'm going through the manual about connecting the power cables and noticed there are two options: a 24-pin cable for the motherboard and an 8+4 pin cable for the CPU. It seems the recommendation is to use the 24-pin setup (obviously). My PSU is a Corsair CX850M, which has both a 24-pin and an 8-pin connector. I'm wondering if skipping the 4-pin connection will cause any issues or affect performance. I might not explain very clearly, but I've attached a screenshot of the power connections from the manual.

The additional four-pin connector is mainly used for liquid nitrogen testing or Threadripper upgrades. You can skip it if needed.

no, You should be fine as a SavageNeo said it's only for ln2 overclocking or threadripper overclocking you don't have to have plugged it in if you don't have it

Yes, you can run the CPU without the extra pin connector. The ASUS ROG Strix X570-F supports Ryzen 7 3700X overclocking without it.

You don’t really need it for overclocking—it’s mostly about pushing it further with extreme settings or strong cooling solutions.
