I've just switched from a 6600k and MSI Krait Gaming 3x to a 3900x and Strix E x570. The setup process hasn't been smooth. Initially, there was no signal detected, and now I'm facing problems with my RAM. When I installed two 4GB sticks in their dual-channel slots, the system started working properly. But once I added a third or fourth stick, nothing happened. The motherboard display stays constantly orange, suggesting a DRAM issue. The RAM sticks themselves are fine. I checked each stick individually and updated the BIOS, which worked well on my 6600k. Am I missing something? Could this RAM not be compatible? If it isn't, why does it function in dual-channel mode? My current setup has four sticks totaling 16GB.
Did you review the board-ram compatibility chart provided by the manufacturer? It’s wise to do so. I purchased RAM that’s marked as fully compatible, and I’ve been using 4x8GB (32GB total) without any problems. This suggests the issue might lie elsewhere.
The HX426C15FBK2/16 is essentially the same RAM, but packaged as a 2x 8GB bundle rather than the 2x 4GB version you own. The compatibility problem appears only when additional sticks are added to the board. It doesn’t seem to affect the setup with just two units.
Hey everyone, this morning I woke up and decided to give it another try. I installed the third RAM stick and the system actually booted! Adding the final stick worked too. It looks like the problem is fixed. Probably I was tired last night because I did it late, but I think I did the same thing now as yesterday. Overall, I'm really pleased with my upgrade now!
