Configuring VPN with PIA on a DD WRT router
Configuring VPN with PIA on a DD WRT router
I obtained a router for setting up DD WRT, aiming to install PIA on it. I’ve searched online for guidance but faced some challenges. Please find the attached network diagram. I’m familiar with installing PIA on the DD WRT unit, yet encounter difficulties ensuring specific configurations.
Key points:
1. How can I connect my NAS (attached to an old router with a USB port; its Wi-Fi is disabled)?
2. Devices like Amazon Firesticks connected via Ethernet need internet access without using the VPN (PIA) for streaming services such as Netflix and Prime.
3. Building on point 2, one of my computers functions as a Plex server, using the Amazon Firestick as a client. This presents a major concern.
4. Should I allow the Amazon Firesticks to reach NAS files while avoiding geolocation problems when watching Netflix or Prime content?
5. Can I keep Chromecasts, printers, phones, and laptops connected via Wi-Fi, and still stream YouTube videos from those devices to the Chromecasts?
I’m unsure if relying solely on the DD WRT router for DHCP management is the best approach, or if using a Google WiFi router might be simpler. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
