I'm working on configuring a VPN with my RPi2 and Pivpn. I can connect to my home network smoothly, but switching IPs has been tricky. For about a year and a half the public IP stayed the same, yet it changed recently (now 89.xxx.xxx.xxx). Part one is fine, but now using the new IP isn't working as expected. Any suggestions on how to handle this? - I tried assigning the old IP for the VPN, but contacting the provider didn’t help much—they just told me to restart the router and fix speed issues or say it’s a virus problem.

Consider using Dyn or another dynamic DNS service and connect to the VPN through its web address. This allows the IP address to shift freely while remaining undetected.

Check if your routers include a complimentary DynDNS account and consider configuring it.

Many internet service providers employ changing IP addresses. You require a fixed IP, which usually adds extra charges. Certain providers might permit home users to obtain a static address or they might not.
