Looking for guidance on setting up Ubiquiti networks beyond simple plug-and-play. I've been worried about security across our current setup—wired PCs, two NAS units (media and files), several media devices, and a CCTV system with four PoE Reolink cameras. The surveillance NAS is trusted, but the rest are less reliable. We rely on a Virgin Hub ISP via a managed TP-link switch that only supports basic VPNs and an unmanaged router. Right now, all Wi-Fi traffic must go through the Virgin box because I can't install access points directly on the Ubiquiti equipment.

I've created two VPNs using Unifi Network Server for media and CCTV, assigning ports to the switch. That’s where my expertise ends. Now I need help understanding how to connect the media devices and surveillance system securely to those VPNs. Can someone walk me through the process or point me to resources? Also, I'm curious about securing the media devices served by the Virgin box using a VPN—any advice on that? Thanks!

The term you're referring to is VLAN, which stands for Virtual Local Area Network. The names might look alike but they serve completely different purposes. Simply connecting devices isn't enough; you require a router that understands VLANs. I doubt the service from Virgin can handle this on its own.
