I've reorganized your setup idea for clarity. The router part of your ISP combo is faulty and the WiFi often drops. You're considering a more stable network but aren't great with networking. Your current plan uses a 100/10 Mbps connection and is evaluating Ubiquity equipment. You're thinking of using EdgeRouter X to bridge the ISP unit, connecting it to UniFi Switch 8-60W for routing. The living room AP-AC Lite would handle WiFi, with PoE via the switch. If this sounds correct, you're on the right track.

That’s acceptable. However, if your sole PoE device is the UAP-AC-Lite, the PoE switch could be unnecessary. A basic unmanaged switch would suffice; you’d merely connect the UAP-AC-Lite to the unmanaged switch and power it via its PoE injector.

That's a solid approach. Upgrading the switch was necessary since it's now fully used, and switching to PoE helps avoid extra power requirements. The Switch 8 with just one PoE port saves about €10, making it a smart choice. Comparing the ER X to UniFi options like the USG is worth considering—what are your priorities?

The UniFi Switch Lite 8 POE represents the latest small PoE switches, priced similarly to earlier models. Reports suggest power supply problems have been resolved. A separate power supply unit isn't strictly required unless you need the full functionality of the UniFi Controller's dashboard. The ER-X model integrates with UNMS and offers strong performance for its size and cost. Be aware that many features are only reachable via the CLI on the ER, whereas the USG provides a more user-friendly graphical interface with standard functions.

Sure thing. No worries about CLI interfaces—everything works fine. Getting the Lite 8 wasn't easy or affordable, so I went with the standard version. It meets all my needs, so I placed the order. Appreciate the advice!

I didn't review everything thoroughly... The Switch 8 provides 48 V PoE while AP Lite needs 24 V, meaning an extra power cable is necessary. I should have paid closer attention to the specifications, but I'm sorry for the oversight—your PoE setup is a bit confusing with multiple voltage options on the same line.
