Hello everyone, I have limited networking experience and wanted your advice. I’m using an ASUS RT-AC3200 router that supports multiple SSIDs (sorry if I’m using outdated terms). It has both 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz bands. Setting up a VPN client on the router was easy, but it automatically routes all my devices through this VPN. I’m curious if it’s possible to restrict one of the 5 GHz networks—say, the one you mentioned—to use PrivateInternetaccess.com for streaming like Netflix, while the other two stay on default settings for local content. Since I’m not in the US, using a US-based VPN feels slower for me. Any suggestions or helpful guides would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting fact—though quite ancient, my core concern remains unchanged!

With simple home gear, I wouldn't expect much flexibility. SSIDs work like basic Ethernet segments, so traffic isn't shaped by layer 3 rules beyond the gateway and egress points. For more advanced setups, you could assign separate VLANs or subnets, restrict certain devices to specific sources in your VPN policy, and link those VLANs to SSIDs that control their connectivity. Most smart home devices don’t offer this kind of control.
