Recently set up a system with a Ryzen 5800x, MSI x570 Tomahawk, Arctic liquid freezer II 360, and have been facing challenges in achieving a solid undervoltage/overclock. I've learned that Precision Boost Overdrive 2.0 (PBO) can help boost performance while keeping temperatures down—typically around 79-81°C during core Cinebench runs. I’ve been reviewing guides but still feel uncertain about the next steps. Initially, I set everything to auto, enabled PBO, and aimed for the lowest negative voltage possible. It worked well, dropping temps without any problems and boosting all cores. Then I explored PBO 2.0 settings from a presentation and found that limiting the max core overclock to 200 MHz gave me the best balance of stability and performance. Without it, the boost was higher but temps spiked. I also tried tweaking the curve optimizer and adjusting negative values, but results were inconsistent. Now I’m considering whether my processor naturally caps around 4855 MHz or if there’s another factor at play. Also, I read that some users successfully set their own PBO limits, which might be worth investigating further. The idea from AMD engineers seems to suggest focusing on the best cores with lower negative voltages, but it’s unclear why top cores would have such low scores. What’s happening here?
