Hi. I have my plex/unraid server attached to my router which is connected to my modem. I can not port forward my server and have it work. What should I do? Here is some info you might find useful. My servers IP is 192.168.1.12 192.168.1.XYZ is what my router assigns my devices while my modem assigns 192.168.254.XYZ to the devices. Both have the subnet mask of 254.254.254.0

Ensure your modem isn't using NAT and is operating in bridged mode, or forward ports from the modem to your router and then to your server. The range 192.168.254.0/24 indicates it's running in NAT mode, not bridged.

You should assign it to your main modem.

It's just one choice, but I'm not sure what "unsolicited traffic" covers.

You can adjust your modem settings to use a different IP address, such as 192.168.1.XYZ instead of the default 192.168.254.XYZ. Check your modem’s documentation or settings menu for options to change the network configuration. If you need further help, let me know!

I would display your gadgets and assist in setting up a bridge between your modem and router, ensuring you only need to adjust the router settings for this purpose.

You'll check if your devices can handle bridge mode. If not, you might need to adjust your settings.

You can also switch the router to AP mode and allow the Frontier Gateway to manage DHCP, NAT, and Firewall. After that, you would handle port forwarding through the Gateway instead.

To stream content from home, create a Plex.TV account and log in on your local server. It links to Plex, you authenticate via their site, and you gain access. For others to join, ask them to set up accounts and share the link. This is how it functioned for me a few years ago.
