Configure MAC HDD settings on Windows
Hi! To prepare your Mac hard drive for use on a Windows machine, you’ll need to format it in a way that Windows recognizes. Check the drive’s properties on your Mac, then follow the instructions to format it for Windows compatibility. If you need help with the steps, let me know!
You might be able to start a Ubuntu LiveCD and use GParted to convert the drive to NTFS. If it doesn’t show up in Disk Management, you can format it from there.
PS: Its an external HDD! "Does the drive not appear in "Disk Management"? If it is you can format it from there." Well something is showing up, but it says that 100% of its capacity is free, eventhough the drive is filled up 80% Instead of downlowding Software to do that; would it be possible/easier to delete the drive on my macbook to FAT32 and then on the windows machine to NTFS? Cheers
Macs don't support natively formatting NFTS files with Disk Utility. However, you can use disk utilities to convert the drive to ExFAT or FAT32, which will likely make it appear on Windows PCs. ExFAT is recommended for this purpose.
I understand it isn't possible, but using the FAT Options should ensure proper formatting to an NTFS drive in those two steps. Appreciate the assistance!
